PETALING JAYA: The Sustainable Energy Development Authority (SEDA) Malaysia has appointed Wong Kah Woh as its chairman effective July 1.
Wong is the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ipoh Timor and the vice-chairman (VC) of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC).
“Wong is the MP for Ipoh Timor, which has availed him the opportunity to provide his views, proposals and suggestions to policy formulation through his debates and speeches.
“Additionally, he has held the post of the PAC VC since 2018, with the responsibility of examining, studying and scrutinising government finances and the appropriation of the sums granted by Parliament to meet public expenditure,” Seda said in a statement yesterday.
Wong is taking over the role of Seda chairman from Datuk Ahmad Fauzi Hasan, who has been serving as acting chairman since July 2018.
Prior to this, from 2008 to 2018, Wong was also the state assemblyman for Canning (Perak) and the chairman of the Perak State Assembly’s PAC from 2008 until 2009.
In 2015, he was nominated as the 30th finalist of Ten Outstanding Young Malaysians, a project by the Junior Chamber International Malaysia or JCI Malaysia.
Wong has a law degree majoring in Civil and Islamic Laws from International Islamic University Malaysia.
He has 14 years experience in corporate and conveyancing practice.
