SAVE campaign to be stepped up

MIRI, Jun 19 (NST) --  The Energy, Green Technology and Water Ministry will step up efforts to promote the Sustainability Achieved via Energy Efficiency (SAVE) programme in Sarawak and Sabah as the response has been poor.

Its minister, Datuk Seri Peter Chin Fa Kui, said under the programme, consumers would be entitled to get a rebate of between RM100 and RM200 to purchase energy-efficient refrigerators and air-conditioners respectively with five star-energy rating.

He said this after launching the 1 Green 1 Community programme and a green technology roadshow here on Sunday.

Launched in July 2010, the SAVE programme was a hit in Peninsular Malaysia, with consumers from the northern states snapping up most of the vouchers
